sculptural steel installation shapes touching fingerprint ridges in india
Briefly

Billion Impressions, designed by Namdev Talluru and Jaya Nila, is an innovative art installation located in Birsa Munda Jail Park, Ranchi. The project, which won TATA Steel's international design competition, repurposes an underused lawn into a dynamic sculptural landmark that invites visitor engagement. With a central motif of the thumbprint symbolizing identity, the installation features a towering steel structure of 16 tonnes, designed with transparency to harmonize with the park's natural landscape. Its lightweight visual appeal and minimal footprint enhance the spatial presence using light and shadow effectively.
The Billion Impressions installation embodies individual identity through its thumbprint motif, serving both as an artistic landmark and a functional gateway to the park.
This 16-tonne, 12.5-meter-high sculpture blends steel geometry and natural surroundings, enhancing visitor experience while reflecting India's cultural narrative.
