A rare and remarkable self-portrait by the 20th-century German expressionist Max Beckmann has sold in Berlin for 20m (17m), breaking the record for a work of art sold at auction in Germany.The striking Selbstbildnis gelb-rosa (Self-portrait Yellow-Pink) was painted by Beckmann during his wartime exile in Amsterdam after he fled Nazi Germany.
