"“After much consideration, we made the difficult decision to close the doors of Foul Witch and bring this chapter to a close. We are incredibly appreciative of the support and enthusiasm our guests have shown since our opening, and are grateful for our dedicated team, whose creativity and commitment shaped the spirit of Foul Witch. We deeply value our neighbors and the NYC community for their energy and support since the opening of Foul Witch.”"
"“seriously weird,”"
"“modern Italian with discordant notes that zap you out of comfort.”"
Foul Witch opened in January 2023 at 15 Avenue A as an East Village Italian restaurant and wine bar from Roberta’s co-founders Brandon Hoy and chef Carlo Mirarchi. The venue featured a long, narrow room with an open kitchen and a wood-fired oven, and focused on seasonal pastas, charcuterie, large-format meats, and a dynamic natural wine list rather than pizza. The project grew from a temporary Frieze Art Fair pop-up and embraced a more experimental, “spooky Italian” approach. Early critical attention described bold, unconventional dishes and a deliberately discordant modern-Italian sensibility. Final dinner occurred November 30.
