Albert and Aaron Yang, the co-CEOs of Din Tai Fung in North America, are third-generation leaders of the family-run Taiwanese dumpling chain. Despite their close professional ties, having grown up working in the family restaurant, they value their personal space. Both brothers have parallel career paths, moving up from restaurant managers to co-CEOs in a few years. They recognize the comforting dynamic of working with a sibling in a challenging leadership role, alleviating the loneliness that can accompany such responsibilities.
"Being the CEO, or in charge of any company, can be a pretty lonely path. You're sort of alone at the top, so it's nice to have family you can trust next to you."
"It’s always a bit surreal. You never really get used to walking into a business meeting and your brother's sitting there," Albert said with a laugh.
