Stella Li, EVP of BYD, expressed a willingness to collaborate with Tesla to challenge internal combustion engine vehicles. While both BYD and Tesla compete in the global EV landscape, they recognize a mutual goal in promoting electric vehicles. Li also mentioned China's openness to innovation sharing with foreign firms despite trade tensions. She underscored the strengths of China's EV sector, alluding to continued consumer preference for electric vehicles due to their quality and intelligence. Furthermore, she highlighted efforts by both companies to enhance autonomous driving technology in their vehicles.
"Our common enemy is the internal combustion engine car. We need to work together... to make the industry change," she stated.
"(The) Chinese government is more open, so maybe there is a lot of wrong perception here," she noted.
"Why are people still choosing the EV? Because it's a better car, a smarter car... and it's higher quality," she stated.
Tesla's FSD features in China have received positive reviews, with numerous users praising the system for its capability to traverse public roads without much issues.
