In the UK, to vote in a UK Parliament election, one must be registered to vote in the constituency, of voting age (18 years old), and a British citizen, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland.
Prisoners serving a sentence for a conviction and peers in the House of Lords are not eligible to vote in UK parliamentary elections. Historic links allow Irish and Commonwealth citizens' eligibility.
