Children from 2 to 32 are being treated as incompetent people who can never do the simplest things - tasks their own parents...did starting very early in life.
By hovering and helicoptering we get in the way of their developing their own skills...we interfere with their ability to have experiences that teach them how to do what they need to do in life.
The question parents must ask themselves from the time their children are two years old through adulthood is this: Am I actually helping my child become more competent and confident?
Is it just easier to do things for our children rather than insisting they do them for themselves? Or is it too painful to watch children struggle...?
