The Michelin Guide announced the addition of 15 new restaurants in California, highlighting eight from the Bay Area. Notable San Francisco entries include Chinatown's Four Kings and the recently reopened Verjus. Other mentions include eateries in Oakland, Sonoma, Petaluma, and Carmel-by-the-Sea. These additions are categorized as 'New' and 'Recommended,' signaling they may be contenders for future Bib Gourmand or star ratings, although there's no guarantee for all. This announcement precedes the California Michelin Guide Ceremony, which took place on August 5, 2024.
Among the Bay Area additions are four restaurants from San Francisco: Chinatown's Four Kings; the newly reopened Verjus from Michael and Lindsay Tusk; Southern fine-dining restaurant Prelude; and Marc Zimmerman's The Wild.
While these aren't starred additions to the guide - yet - these 15 restaurants get the distinction of being called out on the guide as 'New' and 'Recommended.'
Inspectors also added in the new Sun Moon Studio in Oakland, as well as Enclos in Sonoma, Table Culture Provisions in Petaluma, and Stationæry in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
