Checo's Seafood 106 Underground, led by Chef Sergio 'Checo' Peñuelas, permanently closed on May 1, 2025. Peñuelas, known for his acclaimed seafood creations, shared that the closure wasn't due to poor business. He gained prominence after praise from the late Jonathan Gold for his grilled snook and developed a following through his seafood pop-up. "Unfortunately, we had to close at that location even though business was good, but we will be back with another restaurant soon," says Peñuelas.
