Authorities reported that two men in their 40s were found fatally shot in an apartment on Fairmount Avenue late Friday night, under circumstances still under investigation.
Police believe the men were shot by a third party who fled the scene prior to officers' arrival, leaving the motive for these killings currently unknown.
With these two killings, Oakland police have now investigated 80 homicides this year; last year at this same time, the number was significantly higher at 122.
