A 33-year-old man named Maijji Jackson was arrested in connection with the shooting death of rapper Too Short's brother outside a cannabis business in Oakland. The incident occurred when multiple suspects attempted to drive a vehicle through the cannabis shop's front door, leading to an altercation. Too Short's brother confronted the suspects and was subsequently shot, later succumbing to his injuries at the hospital. Jackson is currently facing murder suspicion and awaits arraignment in Santa Rita Jail, as police continue to search for other suspects involved in the incident.
In a Facebook post, Oakland Police said Maijji Jackson was taken into custody and that the Alameda County District Attorney's Office is assessing the case.
The prominent rapper's brother was shot around 7 a.m. on Jan. 29 outside a cannabis business...and died of his injuries at the hospital.
Jackson was booked in the Santa Rita Jail without bail, jail records show. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 19.
