During my 40 visits to New York City, I’ve explored its sights but find joy in simple themes like photographing standpipes, a crucial yet overlooked part of its architecture.
One particular encounter with a passerby revealed the differences in perception of art; what I found beautiful—a standpipe—was dismissed as mundane by someone else.
Walking from Brooklyn to Manhattan, I realize the city has so much to offer beyond tourist attractions. My walks have turned into a personal exploration of its hidden gems.
The standpipe, an everyday object, serves a vital function as part of the fire safety system, yet it often goes unnoticed by those rushing through the city.
