As a psychologist, here's how I'm going to make - and keep - my New Year's resolution
Briefly

As many as 75% of Americans are making resolutions for 2025, but despite intentions, many fail due to the intention-action gap. This year, I'm setting a SMART resolution to go to the gym for 30 minutes, five times a week, making it specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
Setting a SMART goal means crafting a specific resolution rather than tackling numerous. A clear focus increases the chances of success, as many resolutions can overwhelm and lead to failure.
By using a smartphone app to log workouts, track progress, and set digital nudges for reminders, I will stay motivated and accountable in achieving my health goals this New Year.
Emphasizing consistency and self-compassion aids in forging lasting habits. One successful resolution can pave the way for future changes, and starting with one achievable goal is key.
