sarah brahim & ugo schiavi unearth AlUla's forgotten rituals with glass temples & vessels
Briefly

NEUMA: The Forgotten Ceremony is an art installation by Sarah Brahim and Ugo Shiavi that reflects on pre-Islamic rituals and mythology connected to AlUla, Saudi Arabia. Structured into two parts and set against a desert backdrop, the work integrates archaeological research to explore the remnants of ancient cultures. The project emphasizes sensory experiences through breath and light, using glass elements to symbolize connection and spirituality, while inviting viewers to interact with the historical narrative of the region in a contemporary context.
The project NEUMA draws from archaeological and epigraphic research into AlUla's ancient civilizations, reimagining lost rituals through breath, light, and movement.
Both artists create a space for reflection, using glass panels and resonant sculptures to evoke the lingering spirituality of AlUla's forgotten ceremonies.
