Qiaochengbei Park Visitor Center / Atelier XI
Briefly

The design of Qiaochengbei Park Visitor Center focuses on preserving native trees by integrating service buildings with minimal site disturbance, creating harmony within the natural landscape.
The curvilinear form of the east building is gracefully designed around tree trunks, while the west building features trapezoidal structures that enhance the forest's rhythm, creating a dialogue between architecture and nature.
Weathering steel was chosen for its aesthetics and aging qualities, harmonizing with the native tree trunks while reducing maintenance needs as it develops a protective rust layer.
Designed with the humid climate in mind, the Visitor Center utilizes vertical louvers and perforated materials for shade and ventilation, significantly reducing reliance on air conditioning.
