Starbucks' Updated Message-Writing Policy Is Dividing Reddit Users - Tasting Table
Briefly

The recent decision by Starbucks to require baristas to write messages on cups is causing a divide among customers and employees. While some customers appreciate the effort, many feel it has lost its charm when it's mandatory. Baristas express they enjoyed personalizing cups, but the quota makes it feel less special. While complaints emerge, others still find humor and joy in the task. Overall, the initiative, part of CEO Brian Niccol's rebranding efforts, is seen as well-intentioned yet conflicting with the authentic atmosphere Starbucks aimed to create.
As a customer I hate the writing on cups rule - it used to feel special the occasional times I'd get a note, now it's just a reminder I'm making someone do extra work for no reason.
We like writing on cups, but it being required for every cup takes all of the fun and meaning out of it.
Writing 'Slay Queen' and handing it to a middle-aged white man will never stop being funny to me.
Being recognized by name as a regular was worth so much more than a forced message.
