Ford cuts EV plans even as it becomes nation's second-largest EV brand

Ford is delaying the launch of a new electric pickup to 2026 and a three-row electric SUV until at least 2027. The company is shifting its focus towards producing more hybrid vehicles and aims to offer hybrid options for all internal combustion engine-powered vehicles by 2030.
Despite a remarkable 86% increase in EV sales year over year, Ford's total EV sales in Q1 were only 20,223. In contrast, their hybrid sales hit 38,421 units for the quarter, representing just 7.6% of the total vehicles sold.
