PITTSBURG A vehicle crashed off Highway 4 onto tracks at the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART Station early Thursday, leaving the driver dead and train service between Antioch and North Concord suspended.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. At 7:43 a.m., BART said train service had resumed, with delays, between Antioch and the North Concord/Martinez station.
Electrical power to the tracks was shut down so that the crash could be investigated and measures taken to remove the vehicle.
BART started its morning service with no trains running from Antioch to North Concord. They worked with other transit agencies to provide bus service to East Contra Costa riders.
