BMW is recalling over 720,000 vehicles due to a potentially hazardous issue with the water pump's electrical connector that could lead to fires.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration identified that affected models include X1, X3, and X5 vehicles, which may have water pumps prone to fluid ingress.
Insufficient sealing of the water pumps may lead to short circuits, which in rare cases, pose a fire risk, according to the NHTSA report.
Vehicle owners will receive recall notifications in October, instructing them to visit authorized BMW centers for free inspections and necessary replacements.
