Am I Becoming Irrelevant?
Briefly

Transitioning to a leadership role often leads to feelings of frustration and diminished relevance. Early in a career, contributions are tangible through completed projects and public recognition. However, in leadership, the focus shifts to managing team dynamics, filtering requests, and ensuring impactful work is prioritized. There is an emotional toll from the shift in performance metrics, as achievements become collective rather than individual. Many leaders struggle with the perception of their contribution, longing for the clear sense of accomplishment from their earlier roles.
In management, I find myself filtering out noise and saying no to low-leverage requests, which helps the team focus on what really matters.
My worth used to be defined by my output, but now it feels like I am a gatekeeper, missing the direct impact of my previous role.
