Briefly

A winter storm warning is effective from Monday at 2 p.m. until Thursday at 11 p.m. for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area, with severe snow predicted for the Sierra crest and communities. The National Weather Service forecasts 2 inches to possibly 4 feet of snow in specific regions, coupled with high winds causing hazardous conditions and possibly affecting travel on Wednesday and Thursday. Residents are advised to prepare for emergencies and seek shelter solutions provided by various county agencies, including emergency contacts for roads and shelters.
According to the NWS Reno NV, for areas along the Sierra crest, snow accumulations up to 2 inches to 3 feet with locally up to 4 feet possible at the highest peaks.
Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday and Thursday commutes. Strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines as well as blowing snow that could cause near whiteout conditions.
