The Biden administration's export controls target critical technologies like quantum computing and semiconductor goods, aiming to prevent adversarial states from gaining a military edge.
"Aligning our controls on quantum and other advanced technologies makes it significantly more difficult for our adversaries to develop and deploy these technologies in ways that threaten our collective security," said Alan Estevez.
Washington has been cracking down for years on China and other adversaries' ability to access cutting-edge technologies needed for artificial intelligence, over fears of military implications.
The U.S. effort includes unilateral export controls and coordinated strategies with allies like Japan and the Netherlands to secure leadership in key technological fields.
