"When people asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I'd say, 'I'm going to run a big company,'"
"If you think about it - a young girl who's working at a gas station, has no money, doesn't have any friends, doesn't have parents - why would I even think that way? All I know is that it gave me the sense of...call it hope."
Shirin Behzadi arrived in the United States from Iran at 17 with no money, no family and no clear plan. She held a belief that she would run a big company, a conviction that provided hope during hardship. Behzadi worked as a gas station cashier and advanced through leadership roles to become CEO of Home Franchise Concepts, overseeing brands such as Budget Blinds and The Maids. She stepped away from the CEO role in 2019 to pursue advisory work, board membership and public speaking. She faced wars, exile, recessions, self-doubt and a life-threatening illness, relying on resilience and decisive action to persevere.
