With New York City's rental vacancy rate at a historic low of just 1.4 percent and half of all New Yorkers paying more than 30 percent of their income on rent, the Bronx is leading the charge to provide new housing opportunities. The Bronx Metro-North Station Area Plan, which will create approximately 7,000 new homes and 10,000 permanent jobs, is a transformative move designed to enhance the living conditions for families, workers, and young people, specifically in the East Bronx.
The Bronx Metro-North Area Plan is accompanied by significant investments in public amenities and infrastructure. These improvements will ensure enhanced pedestrian safety, better transportation access, and renovated parks and open spaces, ultimately transforming neighborhoods for years to come. Our approach is part of a broader strategy that includes planning efforts in multiple boroughs, focused on delivering nearly 50,000 housing units as part of a forward-thinking, inclusive housing agenda.
