NYPD: Shooting breaks out near Downtown Brooklyn school
Briefly

The NYPD reported that the shooting occurred around 1 p.m. on the corner of Livingston and Smith Streets, just before student dismissal at Brooklyn Frontiers High School.
"But this is where a lot of students go to school; a lot of kids go to school here, so it's really crazy," remarked a nearby resident in response to the shooting.
Just days prior to the incident, the NYPD had announced a new plan to increase patrols in high-crime areas like Downtown Brooklyn, where crime rose by 25% in 2024.
Fortunately, the NYPD confirmed that while shots were fired, no injuries were reported during the incident near the school.
