Mayor Eric Adams announced a new pilot program, Every Block Counts, aimed at reducing violent crime in the Bronx and Brooklyn by coordinating services across city agencies.
After launching Every Block Counts, there have been zero shootings in targeted areas for 56 days, reflecting a significant early success of the multi-agency initiative.
Despite the progress with Every Block Counts, 2023 has seen troubling statistics in the 46th precinct, including 49 shooting incidents and 25 murders so far this year.
Adams noted that the program addresses community-identified quality-of-life issues, having resolved 111 of 146 problems flagged by locals in targeted neighborhoods.
