Mike's Pizza, a beloved pizzeria in Flatbush, has closed after its landlord ordered several businesses, including itself, to vacate as part of redevelopment plans. The pizzeria's owner, Mike, expressed shock at being told to leave after 16 years of service in the community. He hopes to find a new location but plans to take some time off with his family. "Everybody's gonna close, everybody," Mike, the pizzeria's owner, told Brooklyn Paper on Tuesday as customers packed into his four-table eatery for one last slice.
"I got mad. It's not easy when you work for a long time in one place. You feel like you're serving family," Mike said.
"You build something just for it to go like that. But what can I do? You gotta move forward."
"After years of working seven days a week, Mike hopes to reopen at a new location, possibly on Flatbush Avenue."
