Brooklyn baker Adela Mou on her journey from her home kitchen to 'The Great American Baking Show' * Brooklyn Paper
Briefly

Adela Mou, a Brooklyn baker, recently competed in 'The Great American Baking Show', impressing judges and audiences alike. Exceeding expectations, she resonated with many through her stories of camaraderie among fellow contestants. While her journey centered around baking competitions like cookie week and cake week, it was the friendships developed that stood out for her. With encouragement from her community, Mou aims to further her local presence, organizing events to showcase her unique baking skills, rooted in her upbringing within a Chinese immigrant household.
The best part of the experience happened when we were in the tent in July - being there, meeting the other bakers, and making friends.
My friends and family are very proud. They think it's really cool to see someone they know on TV, especially since I don't typically make elaborate desserts.
In China, baking at home isn't as common as it is here. I would make the cakes from box mixes and decorate them - not exactly elaborate.
Now that she's back home and the season has aired in its entirety, Mou plans to showcase her skills locally, and hosted a tasting event.
