On September 5, around 5 p.m., police were called to a shooting incident at 1898 Belmont Ave. in East Tremont, where they discovered 26-year-old Mario Guerrero fatally shot in the head. Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead on the scene. Officers later found ballistic evidence at the site and began investigating, but the suspect had fled the area before they arrived.
The police have released a description of the suspect, indicating he has a dark complexion, stands about 5 feet 10 inches tall, has braided hair, and was last seen wearing all black while carrying a black backpack. Despite active investigation efforts, law enforcement has not yet determined a motive for the shooting, nor have they made any arrests.
