In an apparent attempted execution in the Bronx, a gunman shot a 41-year-old man critical wounding him on April 7. The daylight shooting occurred at 3:40 p.m. on East 176th Street and Belmont Avenue when the assailant approached from behind. Although the victim was promptly rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, he refused to cooperate with investigators. The suspect fled the scene westbound, and police have since released a surveillance image to solicit information from the public to aid the investigation.
Police sources reported that the victim, a 41-year-old man, was shot in the back of the head and the left armpit in an apparent execution attempt.
Despite being critically injured, the victim chose not to cooperate with detectives, leaving police with limited information about the shooting and suspect.
Detectives have released a surveillance image of the gunman and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
