Walt Disney has agreed to pay $43.3 million to settle a lawsuit alleging that its female employees in California earned $150 million less than male counterparts over eight years.
The lawsuit, originally filed by LaRonda Rasmussen in 2019, exposed significant pay disparities, revealing that she and others earned less than male peers for similar roles.
Disney has committed to retaining a labour economist for three years to analyze pay equity among full-time, non-union California employees below the vice president level.
The case was supported by an analysis of HR data showing female Disney employees earned approximately 2 percent less than their male counterparts from April 2015 to December 2022.
