New schnitzel restaurant with name inspired by classic children's book set to open
Briefly

Von Crumb is set to open this month on Haverstock Hill, starting as a daytime cafe that transitions to an evening dining venue. Owners David Ben Meir and Or Yerushalmi plan to create a menu centered around schnitzel, catering to both quick lunches and leisurely dinners. Their vision includes expanding into several express outlets across the capital. They emphasize high-quality, hearty German and Austrian food served in a relaxed and accessible setting. The venue will have seating for 24 inside and 22 on the terrace, with alcohol licenses pending approval from Camden Council.
Von Crumb transforms the traditional schnitzel into an everyday delight without compromising quality, serving it in various styles from sandwiches to salads.
We will offer a daytime cafe serving coffee, juice and light fare; a lunch spot for quick or leisurely meals; and an evening venue for drinks and dining.
Our focused menu will feature hearty schnitzels plated, in a sandwich, or on a salad alongside classic dishes, all served in a casual yet stylish atmosphere.
The name might perhaps spring from Lynley Dodd's 1983 classic children's book Hairy Maclary, which features an array of dog characters including a Dachshund called Schnitzel Von Krumm.
