Harman Projects presents 'You Won't Always Feel This Way', a solo exhibition by Chris RWK. The artist delves into texture to explore themes of time, emotions, and inspirations. Featuring a cast of cartoon characters, including his iconic robot, the artworks reflect positivity and shared experiences. The exhibition includes both new pieces and archived works dating back 25 years, enhancing the narrative of RWK's artistic journey. The artist discusses techniques like layering and sanding to express gain and loss, likening textures to stories told by the rings in a tree, symbolizing the passage of time.
These characters are revisited throughout the work, and can be found holding hearts, gathered in groups and sharing positive and hopeful messages while peering expectantly back at the viewer.
While working on You Won't Always Feel This Way, the artist spent time looking back on earlier archive works, some dating back over 25 years.
The textures also show the layers of time that we encounter everyday. Things like walls being painted over and over again. The layers tell a story just like the rings inside a tree.
A lot of the new pieces include layering and sanding. The feeling of gain and loss to reveal an end.
