Economy Minister Dirk Beljaarts announced that a new agreement with Nvidia could significantly increase the chances of establishing an AI supercomputer facility in the Netherlands.
Beljaarts emphasized the importance of ensuring necessary knowledge and hardware together with Nvidia, stating ‘Before a shovel can go into the ground, we need to ensure the required knowledge and hardware is available.’
The Dutch government has committed to becoming a more significant player in AI, having set aside 204.5 million euros last year for AI investments, including EU subsidies.
The collaboration with Nvidia showcases the Netherlands' ambition in AI, as it seeks to leverage Nvidia's expertise amidst competing interest from other countries.
