The rise of generative AI has transformed the job application landscape, with many candidates using AI tools to enhance their resumes. A recent survey found that over half of applicants utilized AI, with a notable percentage admitting to careless embellishments and outright fabrications. Recruiters are also increasingly relying on AI for screening, which raises concerns about fairness in the hiring process. The situation poses challenges as many feel candidates are gaining unfair advantages, leading to a potential mismatch between applicants' profiles and actual abilities.
A whopping 37 percent admitted they didn't bother correcting embellishments the AI chatbot made, like exaggerated experience and fabricated interests.
"AI can help many candidates put their best foot forward... but it needs to be used carefully," Hiscox chief underwriting officer Pete Treloar told TechRadar.
