A number of Premier League players are one yellow card away from picking up a one-match suspension. Footballers in the top-flight receive a one-match ban for accumulating five yellow cards in their side's first 19 matches. After 19 games, the ban moves to 10 yellow cards. Players receiving 10 yellow cards prior to the conclusion of the 32nd game receive a two-match suspension. Should any players receive 15 yellow cards in a season, they will acquire a three-match suspension.

Everton midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall described it as "mind-boggling" that he has already been suspended after collecting five yellow cards in just six Premier League matches. Dewsbury-Hall received a booking for a challenge on Kyle Walker-Peters during Monday's 1-1 draw with West Ham and will miss Sunday's clash against Crystal Palace due to suspension. The midfielder, who joined Everton from Chelsea in August for around £28m, has started all six of the Toffees' league games and has registered a goal and an assist so far.
