Union Berlin has made history after appointing Marie-Louise Eta as their new head coach, becoming the first club in Europe's top five leagues to have a female head coach. Eta takes the job on an interim basis until the end of the season, having previously served as the club's assistant and U19 manager.

At my college back in the day, just as Title IX was being passed, the male athletes were given steak dinners at the cafe the night before big games, especially football, but basketball, and baseball too, but none for female teams. I was a walk-on to our softball team my freshman year, and also worked in the cafeteria to help pay tuition.

When you are fortunate enough to go through 31 games and win them all, there is something to be proud of. There is something good about it, and they should feel really good about it.
