"When you are fortunate enough to go through 31 games and win them all, there is something to be proud of. There is something good about it, and they should feel really good about it."
"Coach came in [to the locker room and] said he was proud of us. We also have a lot to work on to get ready for the Big East tournament, so just enjoy the win now and be ready to get back to work."
"Auriemma insisted that his team's 31-0 season hasn't been an easy journey, particularly as his players navigate unparalleled pressure dealing with the ghosts of the program's storied past."
UConn defeated St. John's 85-49 to finish their regular season undefeated at 31-0, marking their 11th undefeated regular season in program history and their seventh overall undefeated campaign. The victory extended their consecutive win streak to 47 games, tied for the fifth-longest in Division I history, with UConn holding five of the top six streaks. The Huskies shot 57% from the field, forced 22 turnovers, and demonstrated their depth with six players scoring at least nine points. Coach Geno Auriemma acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining an undefeated season despite the team's dominant performance. UConn's plus-37.8 scoring margin this season ranks third-highest in Division I history. The team now prepares for the Big East tournament with nine wins needed to repeat as national champions.
