The decomposing bodies of an 80-year-old woman and her 52-year-old son were discovered inside a downtown Brooklyn apartment where neighbors said neither victim had been seen in some time, police said Thursday. Neighbors in the building on Jay St. near Tillary St. called police just before 1 p.m. Wednesday asking them to check on the mother after smelling a foul odor, cops said.

On the night Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland died, the team's director of security, Cable Johnson, called law enforcement to ask for a welfare check on Kneeland and to tell police Kneeland had sent a text saying he didn't want to go to jail. Kneeland died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound last week. Police found his body in the early morning last Thursday after he had evaded officers during a pursuit and fled on foot.

The body of 65-year-old Dawn O'Shea was found in her home, having been dead for some time, prompting concerns and a subsequent welfare check by the Metropolitan Police.
