We absolutely loved when it opened last year in King's Cross, so there has been much rejoicing over news that a new branch of the south Indian mini-chain will be opening in Soho. The biggest branch to date, Tamila will pop up on Poland Street in February. It marks the third outing for the restaurant, which also has a location in Clapham. Tamila comes from the same team as desi gastropubs The Tamil Prince and The Tamil Crown, which are both in Islington.

"Kyma is loud and celebratory, but there was a vacuum between the formality of Milos or Avra, and the joie de vivre of Kyma," maintained Christou, who actually began his career at the first Milos in Montreal, and was the general manager when it premiered in New York. "We also want to make sure that stylistically, Selene speaks to the art haven that's Soho."

The Hebrew name Or'esh is focused on light and fire: The menu consists of minimalist dishes with flavors imparted by the custom grill that allows both wood- and coal-fired cooking. Greenberg's approach draws from Mediterranean traditions across Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Israel, Jordan, and Syria. Greenberg says he plans to cook almost exclusively with extra-virgin olive oils he personally sources from the region.
