The SF Symphony's Lunar New Year concert celebrated community and resilience amid external perceptions of San Francisco.
Restaurants and tourist-focused operators at Fisherman's Wharf experienced significantly reduced business over the holiday weekend, with a drastic decline in foreign tourist numbers noted this summer.
The proposed cuts to the San Francisco Symphony Chorus were drastic, threatening to reduce compensation by 65% and choral programs by nearly half. This prompted a fierce response from the union members.
"It's so important because a lot of the public programs don't have music programs in schools and so this is a way to get them into the symphony, get them exposed to it and for them to find a love for it early on," Lolita Clemenson, a Community Day co-chair said.
The San Francisco Symphony's season-opening performance of 'Music From Studio Ghibli' captivated audiences, blending well-known scores with visual artistry, fostering a joyous atmosphere.
