Despite the dreary rain, Portland is rich in new exhibits this month. The Portland Art Museum's grand opening is slated for the end of the month with free admission days and fun events. Froelick Gallery's show celebrates the legacy of the beloved Jamison/Thomas Gallery with an art sale supporting one of Pacific Northwest College of Art's scholarships. Bright colors and high energy swirls around the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education with Steve Marcus' special psychedelic show.

2 months agoThe Mark Rothko Pavilion Isn't the Only Big Thing Opening at PAM This Fall
Later this November, PAM will link its original building with the Masonic Temple expansion by way of the Mark Rothko Pavilion. The new structure will extend across SW Madison and add approximately 10,000 square feet of space to Portland's flagship art museum, finally connecting the two buildings. The Rothko solves a major problem for PAM. Previously, the original part of the museum and the Mark Building were linked via an underground passageway that a lot of guests completely missed during their visits.

Brian Ferriso will become director of the Dallas Museum of Art on December 1 to lead a $150m campus transformation after completing Portland's expansion.
