An NYPD officer shot and injured a man armed with a sharp object inside NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital Thursday evening, according to police officials. Authorities said officers responded to a 911 call about gunfire near the hospital around 5:30 p.m. and encountered the man before opening fire. Officials said the man was in critical condition and that the investigation is ongoing.

The building was created by two couples who met in the early 1980s, after the mayor announced a program to help artists take over abandoned apartment buildings. There were lots of meetings, and lots of interested artists, but the program never took off. Garrick Dolberg liked the idea enough to try doing the work on his own. In 1981, he was a sculptor with a day job in construction.

At approximately 11:45am, a traffic enforcement agent in Park Slope was splashed with an unknown liquid by a suspect driving a 2014 Infiniti sedan.

Twenty-one-year-old Amazon parrot Lindo has been returned to his owner following his theft from a Park Slope laundromat on July 1. An unidentified person on a bike attempted to take Lindo’s partner, Linda, but ultimately stole Lindo instead.
