Musicians and performers at the English National Opera (ENO) have voted to strike on the opening night of The Handmaid's Tale due to planned cuts to the workforce.
The cuts include axing 19 orchestra posts and making other staff members work part-time, which the Musicians' Union and Equity argue will threaten musicians' livelihoods.
This will be the first full strike action by the Musicians' Union in 44 years, and the dispute highlights the issue of stable, accessible jobs in the opera industry. [ more ]
