"He's like a mentor of mine. He's like a dad sometimes. He's like a coach sometimes. He puts on a lot of hats when it comes to me," Roberts said. "I love him. He knows I love him. We're in this thing together. "You know, playing 162, especially with this group having so many talented guys, it's hard. It's hard to manage all of the personalities, especially when guys are underperforming."
Snell gave the Dodgers six shutout innings while allowing just two hits and two walks. He also struck out a season-high 11 batters. The only time the Rockies put a runner in scoring position was in the fourth inning with two outs, which was the result of a walk and a stolen base by Ezequiel Tovar. Other than that, Snell only allowed two singles and didn't allow them to advance.
Tyler Glasnow was brilliant over seven no-hit innings, striking out 11. Reliever Blake Treinen pitched a perfect eighth before Ryan Ritter broke up the no-hitter by lining Tanner Scott 's third pitch to left field for a double. The ball appeared catchable off the bat, but left fielder Alex Call turned the wrong way, costing him any chance to make a play.
"The more I think about it, Mookie is somebody I'm not going to hit lower in the order. I just feel you weigh the options, the alternatives and things like that, I’m going to continue to believe in him and trust that he’s the best option."
