The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Texas has issued a subpoena for the medical records of trans youth who received gender-affirming care from NYU Langone Health, a New York-based hospital system, since 2020.
Microsoft announced on Thursday that it's launching Copilot Health, a "separate, secure space" in Copilot for asking questions about lab results and medical records, searching for providers, analyzing data from wearables, and other health-related chats. The feature will have a phased rollout, so it won't be available to everyone immediately, but users can join a waitlist to get access.
OpenAI is launching ChatGPT Health, which is a special place within ChatGPT where you can connect your Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Function, Weight Watchers, AllTrails, Instacart, and Peloton accounts and ask questions about your health. OpenAI says ChatGPT is "designed in close collaboration with physicians" to "help people take a more active role in understanding and managing their health and wellness".
The Justice Department is demanding that hospitals turn over a wide range of sensitive information related to medical care for young transgender patients, including billing documents, communication with drug manufacturers and data such as patient dates of birth, Social Security numbers and addresses, according to a copy of a subpoena made public in a court filing this week.
