A 25-year-old man was charged with attempting to murder a San Francisco officer by striking him with a car during a hectic incident where an Oakland officer fired his gun into the ground, according to court records. Joseph Willis was charged with attempted murder, three counts of assault upon a police officer with a deadly weapon, attempted carjacking, and illegally possessing a gun and ammunition. The attempted murder charge, which carries a potential life sentence, requires prosecutors to prove he intended to kill the officer.
Thomas McKenna, 60, converted the weapons using a lathe and drill inside one of three caravans at a large traveller site in Buckles Lane, South Ockendon, Essex, Kingston Crown Court was told. Prosecutors said McKenna distributed the guns to a criminal network and sent messages urging others to "get yourself ready" and warning that "the time for protesting is over". The court heard the network included Faisal Razzaq, who was the getaway driver in the fatal shooting of PC Sharon Beshenivsky in Bradford in 2005.
Any Gutierrez-Rebollo, 27, of Oakland, took the most legal responsibility for the Oct. 8, 2022 killing of 29-year-old religious student Isamaeli Eli Mata'afa, pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter with the expectation to be sentenced to 14 years on Feb. 5. Co-defendant Michael Monrroy-Ramos, 26, of Union City, pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon for an eight-year prison term, also scheduled to be handed down on Feb. 5, records show.
Darryl Muzic Martin, 58, who identifies himself as the pastor of His Way Spirit Led Assemblies, and Shelley Bailey "Kat" Martin, 62, who refers to herself as a prophetess and a gifted oracle, have been arrested on suspicion of murder along with member Rudy Moreno, 43, according to Redlands police. The leaders of the group have been under investigation in connection with the disappearance of former member Emilio Ghanem in May 2023 after visiting a Redlands Starbucks.
A man who opened fire during a July shooting in Auburn, New York, has pleaded guilty to murder and illegal firearm possession, officials announced. Davon Dixon, 35, of Brooklyn, entered the plea in Cayuga County Court on October 1. Prosecutors say he intentionally caused the death of a victim by firing multiple shots from a loaded firearm during a July 26 incident in the city.
