Met Eireann expands last-minute thunderstorm warning to six counties, as Ireland braces itself for another rainy weekend

Met Éireann initally issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for Clare, Galway, Mayo and Sligo to remain in place until 11am on Friday morning. They updated the warning shortly before 10am to include counties Kerry and Limerick. Thundery downpours, spot flooding, lightning damage and difficult travelling conditions can all be expected, according to the forecasters. And, despite the rain forecast for the weekend, temperatures will stay mild and warmer than average.
