"Met Éireann has warned that very cold weather is on the way, as temperatures will drop below freezing over the next couple of days across the country. The national forecaster said that an Arctic airmass is set to bring temperatures as low as -4C this week, threatening to freeze already-saturated surfaces after days of rainfall. People are being warned of severe frost, icy conditions, hazardous travel conditions and travel disruption."
"After acknowledging on Wednesday that the country could be exposed to sub-zero temperatures due to a specific weather event, forecasters on Thursday morning issued a nationwide Status Yellow low temperature/ice warning. The warning will come into effect at 9pm on Friday evening and remain in place until 10am on Saturday morning. Thursday marks the day when the frosty temperatures are due to begin, according to current forecasts."
An Arctic airmass will bring temperatures as low as -4C, risking freezing of saturated ground after recent rainfall. A nationwide Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning is in place from 9pm Friday to 10am Saturday. Thursday will be cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain, some heavy with possible spot flooding. The north will receive the most persistent rain while the south stays drier and brighter. Temperatures will drop through the day as colder air spreads south, with early afternoon 2–6C in the north and 6–10C in the south. Thursday night will be cloudy, wet and breezy with further rain; showers in the north and west should clear overnight, followed by frosty, icy conditions.
