The pursuit that can best recreate my farming roots is gardening. It requires putting on the "old" clothes, not your "good" clothes, and a day at the graft is only satisfying when you end up wrecked, muck-flecked and in need of a nailbrush at the sink.

I've put a lot of work in to get where I am and I know it's not as far most people who barely try.

A construction worker, an electrical engineer, a delivery driver: These are the roles that define the players of El Farolito, who balance grueling jobs with soccer.

Hard work, dedication and self-belief are the three things that have helped me get to where I am today. It's about the small things every day, working hard and putting in the extra work to make it as a professional footballer. There is only a small percentage of people who make it, but if you have the right attitude and passion, and if you're willing to put in the effort, I think anything is possible.
